Terms of Service
The Family Press is a private, invite-only space for families to make a shared magazine. These terms govern your use of the service, including paid subscriptions, printing, and delivery. They form an agreement between you and Itempass BV, doing business as The Family Press. By creating an account or starting a subscription, you agree to these terms.
The service
Members use the app to contribute posts and photos and prepare each issue. The paid print plan covers the recurring production and delivery of a personalized physical magazine to the family’s designated recipient. It does not sell standalone digital content.
The account holder who starts a print plan is responsible for its charges, delivery address, and magazine settings. Invited family members can help prepare issues without becoming responsible for printing or delivery charges.
Trial, prices, and automatic renewal
We offer a monthly subscription and an annual subscription, each with a seven-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The current price of each plan is shown in the app before you subscribe. Prices are in US dollars. Printing, binding, and standard US postage are included; applicable sales tax is added separately.
A payment method is required when you start a trial, but the amount due that day is $0. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, we automatically charge the payment method for the plan you selected. After that, the subscription automatically renews monthly or annually, and the recurring charge is collected at the start of each new billing period, until you cancel.
The plan, price, tax, trial, and renewal details shown to you when you subscribe form part of these terms. If a different promotional or replacement price is shown and you affirmatively accept it, that accepted price controls. We will give advance notice of price changes and renewal reminders when required by law.
Cancellation
You can cancel online at any time from your magazine’s subscription settings. You may also use the billing portal when it is available for your subscription or contact us at support@thefamilypress.com for help.
Cancel before the seven-day trial ends to avoid the first charge. Otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period: you keep access through that date, we do not charge the next renewal, and issues already available in the app remain available subject to these terms and our retention practices. Deleting your account does not by itself request or create a refund.
Billing and failed payments
Our payment provider processes subscription charges and may retry a failed payment. You authorize us and our payment provider to charge the payment method associated with your subscription for the disclosed recurring price, applicable tax, and any price change you later accept. We may pause physical production or subscription access while a required payment remains unpaid.
Contact us promptly if you believe a charge is duplicated or incorrect. We will investigate and refund any verified billing error.
Shipping and delivery
Physical delivery is currently available only to supported addresses in the United States. You are responsible for keeping the delivery name and address accurate before an issue’s production cutoff. An address change made after production begins may not affect that issue.
Any production or delivery date shown in the service is an estimate, not a guarantee. If an issue cannot ship within the time we stated, or within the time otherwise required by law, we will provide the legally required delay notice and cancellation or refund options. Postal delays after shipment can be outside our control, but we will help investigate a missing issue.
Refunds, replacements, and personalized copies
Subscription fees are generally non-refundable once a paid billing period begins, except for a verified billing error, as expressly stated below, or when required by law. We do not provide a partial refund merely because you did not use the service or deleted your account during a paid period.
Each physical magazine is made for one family using its content, so it cannot be returned or refunded for a change of mind. This does not affect your rights when a copy is defective, damaged, materially different from the ordered issue, or not delivered. Contact support@thefamilypress.com within 30 days after delivery, or after the estimated delivery date for a missing copy. We may request reasonable information needed to investigate. If the problem is our responsibility, we will provide a replacement at no additional charge or, when a replacement is not reasonably available, an appropriate refund or credit for the affected issue.
Your content and permission to produce the magazine
You keep your ownership rights in content you contribute. You give The Family Press a limited permission to host, reproduce, format, display, run safety checks on, transmit to our contracted service providers, print, and mail that content solely to operate the service and produce the family’s magazine. This permission is non-exclusive and applies only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet the family’s instructions, and comply with the retention and legal obligations described in our Privacy Policy.
Automatic safety checks
Before a new or edited caption or photo is shared with family members or included in a printed issue, we send it to OpenAI, our service provider, for automated safety moderation. Our Privacy Policy explains how this content is processed and retained.
Content denied by the automatic check remains private. The author can edit or delete it, or ask us to review the decision.
Automated checks can make mistakes and do not guarantee that every violation will be detected. You remain responsible for following the content standards below. We may block or remove content that violates these terms.
Content standards
We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Only share content that you have the right and permission to use. Do not upload, share, or use The Family Press for content that is:
- Sexual: sexually explicit content, sexual exploitation, or sexual content involving minors.
- Violent: graphic violence, credible threats, or content that encourages physical harm.
- Hateful: content that attacks, dehumanizes, or promotes hatred against people based on protected characteristics.
- Harassing: bullying, intimidation, targeted abuse, or repeated unwanted conduct.
- Illegal: content that depicts, promotes, solicits, or facilitates illegal activity.
- Privacy-violating: personal information, private images, or other material shared without the permission required to share it.
- Rights-infringing:content that violates another person’s copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or other rights.
Your responsibilities
The person who starts a subscription must be at least 18 and able to enter into this agreement. They are responsible for that plan’s charges, delivery address, and magazine settings.
Invited family members must be at least 13 to have their own account. We do not knowingly let children under 13 create accounts, and we will remove one we learn about. A parent or guardian who invites a family member under 18 is responsible for that member’s use of the service. This does not limit what an adult may include in a magazine: photos of and stories about children of any age are the point of a family magazine, and the adult who adds them is responsible for having permission to do so.
You are responsible for the posts and information you add, and for keeping your account credentials secure. You must have permission to share photos and personal information about other people, including children, and you must respect the privacy of everyone in your magazine.
Access to a magazine is limited to invited members. Personal invitation links and codes are intended only for the person invited; do not forward them or share magazine content with people who should not have access.
Reports, hiding, and enforcement
Members can report another member’s post from its action menu in the app. The Family Press support team reviews reported content and decides what action is appropriate. We may dismiss a report, remove a post, suspend an account, or combine removal and suspension when needed to protect people or enforce these standards. We aim to review reported content promptly and to act within 24 hours on reports involving a risk to someone’s safety.
When you report a post, you can also hide the member who wrote it. Hiding takes effect immediately and applies only to you: their posts stop appearing in your current and past issues, while they remain part of the shared magazine for everyone else. You can see everyone you have hidden under Settings → Hidden members and restore their posts there at any time. Hiding a member is your own choice and is separate from the report, which we review regardless.
We may act at any point in an issue’s lifecycle. Removing a post prevents it from appearing in the app and in future magazine production, but it cannot change a physical magazine that has already been printed.
Our app and content
The Family Press app and website, and the software, magazine layouts, templates, type, artwork, and branding we provide, belong to Itempass BV or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app to prepare and receive your family magazine while these terms are in effect. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from the service, use it to build a competing product, or remove any notice of ownership. Nothing here transfers ownership of our material to you, and nothing here transfers ownership of your content to us beyond the permission described above.
Suspension, termination, and changes to the service
You may stop using The Family Press at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account in the app. We may suspend or terminate an account, remove content, or end a magazine if a member materially breaches these terms, if required by law, or if it is reasonably necessary to protect people or the security of the service. Except where an immediate response is needed, we will give notice and, when the problem can be fixed, a reasonable chance to fix it. If we terminate a paid subscription for reasons other than your breach, we will refund the unused portion of the current paid period.
We may add, change, or discontinue features as the service develops. If we make a change that materially reduces what a paid subscription provides, or if we discontinue the service, we will give reasonable advance notice and, where a paid period is affected, refund its unused portion. We will give you a reasonable opportunity to obtain a copy of your magazine content before the service is discontinued.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Apart from the commitments expressly stated in these terms and the rights the law gives you, the service is provided as it is: we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of loss, that automatic safety checks will detect every violation, or that a delivery estimate will be met. Keep your own copies of photos that matter to you; the service is not a backup service.
To the extent the law allows, Itempass BV is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data, and our total liability arising from the service or these terms in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in that period or fifty US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, or under mandatory consumer protection law. If a limitation in this section is unenforceable where you live, it does not apply to you.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law, and disputes may be brought before the courts of Leuven, Belgium. This does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and if you are a consumer you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
Please contact support@thefamilypress.comfirst so we can try to resolve the problem directly. Consumers in the European Union can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.

Changes, support, and applicable rights
We may update these terms as the service or legal requirements change. If a change is material, we will provide notice before it takes effect when required by law. Changes do not remove rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.
